Albuquerque NM wins international award
Albuquerque NM has won a World Leadership Award announced Wed. at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. The prestigious international prize recognizes cities that have shown exceptional imagination,forsight or resilience in dealing w/ major challenges. Albuquerque won the prize for its efforts to ensure a water future, including the San Juan chama river diversion project.
The award was announced at a black tie event including city leaders from throughout the world. It's sponsored by the World Leadership Forum, an organization that promotes leadership in science,technology,education,communications and the arts.
Early this year, the organization contacted 400 of the world's largest cities, seeking information about projects that could be considered for the annual prize.
