The 19th annual National fiery Foods & Barbecue Show is scheduled for March 2-4 at the Sandia Resort & Casino Events Center. Promoters say the show is the world's biggest gathering of people and products in the hot and barbecue foods industry. Visitors will be able to sample products from around the world ranging from mild to wild, accordingto a news release, and watch chefs at work as well.

Mesa del Sol has finally arrived, earning its own submarket designation in Grubb & Ellis New Mexico's Industrial Market Trends report. The 12,900 acre master-planned development, still in its opening stage, shows up in the third quarter w/ a whopping 665,596 square feet of industrial soace under construction. Most of the construction is on Albuquerque Studios, a 500,000 film and TV studio owned by Pacifica Ventures. Also under construction is an 87,000 square foot building to house Advent Solar.

Albuquerque is about to get a brand new publicly traded company. Emcore Corp. is moving its headquarters from Somerset, N.J. to Albuquerque. The semiconductor business, which makes photovoltaic cells and optical communications devices here is expected to announce the move today during a ribbon cutting for a 20,000 square-foot expansion of its photovoltaic cell plant at the Sandia Science and Technology Park. That expansion will make way for an additional 50 to 80 jobs.
